Buckner Transport

*** Important legal information ***

There are any number of so-called "transporters" who will haul your RV for less than we will. How can they do this? Usually it's because they aren't doing it legally. Federal law requires that anyone who transports RV's and other goods in exchange for money must be authorized to do so by the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) and have the appropriate MC (Motor Carrier) authority. Furthermore, transporters must have commercial insurance on their own vehicles and on the goods they are transporting. Getting that DOT and MC authority requires a lot of paperwork--no surprise there--and a sizeable investment of money and time. Buying commercial insurance is astronomically expensive: in round numbers, we pay over $8,000 per year per vehicle for cargo and liability insurance--and that's with perfect driving records and without a single claim!

But there are countless renegades who don't comply with the law, don't pay for proper insurance. They skirt the law, hoping they won't get caught and hoping they won't have any sort of mishap with your goods. If an outlaw transporter transports your RV or other item and they do have an accident, you can count on this: their personal auto insurance most likely won't pay for your RV. And, God forbid, if anyone is injured in that accident, guess who may be held liable for all the damages? (You might want to consult with your attorney for the answer to that question...)

The bottom line is this: the cheapest "transporter" may end up costing you a fortune. Buckner Transport provides more than just quality transport services. We also provide peace of mind. We'll provide you with a certificate of insurance in your name by email, fax or US mail before we arrive to transport your RV.

So how do you know who is "legal" and who isn't? The US Department of Transportation has a website just for this purpose. Visit www.safersys.org/CompanySnapshot.aspx and enter a transporter's DOT number (ours is 1702418) or MC number (ours is 624825). If the transporter has the required DOT authority, you'll be shown a "company snapshot" with details about the company. Protect yourself by ensuring your transporter is legal!

As with so many other things, "cheapest" isn't always "best". In fact, "cheap" can cost you a fortune! Yes, our rates may be higher than those illegal transporters charge, but we'll quote you a fair, honest sum and give you maximum value for your money! And you can rest assured that your RV is in the best of hands.
